Getting started

WitnessQA uses your web app like a real person and brings back a screenshot of every step. Setup takes about five minutes. Every step below shows the screen you will see.

Setup in five steps

  1. Run a free audit

Paste your app URL on the home page. The agent walks 3 to 5 public flows, with no login, and gives you a report you can share. You do not need an account for this.

Paste your URL and click Run free audit.
  2. Create a project and add an environment

Sign up, create a project and add the URL to test. Label it staging or production. Staging is recommended, because the agent really clicks, submits and pays. See Safety.

Add an environment and label it staging.
  3. Verify that you own the site

Add a snippet, a meta tag, a DNS record or a file. This is needed for full audits and anything behind login, so nobody can test a site they do not own. See Verify ownership.

Pick a method, add the token to your site and click Verify.
  4. Choose how the agent logs in

The easiest option: the agent signs up by itself with its own inbox. You can also give it a test account or a TOTP secret. See Login options.

Pick one login option per environment.
  5. Connect GitHub or Jira (optional)

Give read-only access to issues. When an issue is opened or closed, the agent checks its acceptance criteria and reports the result. You can skip this and start runs from the dashboard. See Connect GitHub and Connect Jira.

Connect one or both. Both need read-only access only.
